One of the primary herbs used in the Ayurvedic medical tradition, Ashwagandha provides real, all around health benefits when taken regularly, a true superfood. However, if you are new to the idea of natural health supplements and want to make the most of your newly purchased Ashwagandha, what is the best way to use it?

Before discussing the best way to use your Ashwagandha, it is best to remember just why we use it in the first place. It has been used for thousands of years as a rejuvenate and adaptogenic herb. Ashwagandha Recipes

The best way to use Ashwagandha superfood is to add it to your cooking, and here is a selection of tasty, mouth-watering recipes that are easy to cook, healthy and make the most of your Ashwagandha. You can happily consume 1-2 tsp a day, so try out the recipes, and find your favorites!

  1. Ashwagandha Tea

Ashwagandha tea is delicious and refreshing, and of course, really good for you too, it's also really easy to make, so don’t go a day without it.

First, take 2 tsp of your Ashwagandha, and add it to 3 and a half cups of boiling water. Then return to the boil, and leave it boiling for 15 minutes. Sieve the water and put to one side. You should consume a quarter cup, twice per day for the best effect.

      2. Ashwagandha Smoothie

A smoothie is a great way to enjoy the benefits of Ashwagandha, and you can add in your favorite flavours and create your own unique Ashwagandha smoothie every time if you want to.

The basic smoothie is easy, simply take your blender, and add in 2 cups of coconut milk, 5 ice cubes, half a tablespoon of cinnamon and 1 tsp of Ashwagandha. Blend that until smooth and there you have it!

No one wants a basic smoothie though of course, they should always be full of goodness, flavour, and color, and that is so easy to achieve too. Simply add your favorite flavours to the mix before blending, what could be easier? The difficult part is picking the flavor for you, but don’t be afraid to experiment. Standards such as honey, natural chocolate, strawberries, pineapple or mango all work well, or maybe something very different, the choice is entirely yours. Because they are so quick and easy to make, you can easily experiment to find the ones you love. 

       3. Ashwagandha Tea with Milk Cardamom

While the basic Ashwagandha Tea is a refreshing and delicious drink, there are ways to add something a little special to the idea, and this version with milk cardamom is always a special treat.

Put 1 tsp of Ashwagandha, half a cup of milk, 1 tsp of date sugar (Palm sugar will work as well) and half a cup of water in a pan and heat on a low heat, until it reduces to the volume of half a cup. While warm, add in cardamom and drink! It’s delicious, and you can have two a day if you want!

       4.  Ashwagandha Chocolate

Who doesn’t love chocolate? Well, we all love it, but how many of us always feel a bit guilty if we indulge in a little chocolate treat? Now you can have all the wonderful taste and not feel even a little guilty because it comes with all the health benefits of the amazing superfood Ashwagandha.

First, put quarter cup Ashwagandha powder, quarter cup maca powder, 1-2 tbsp raw cocoa powder, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp unrefined sea salt into a mixing bowl and then add a half cup of honey, half cup of hemp butter and a half cup of coconut butter and mix everything together.

Take a chocolate mold if you have one, or a silicon tray for mini muffins or similar shapes if you don’t, and pour your mixture in. Then just place it in the freezer to set,

Once set keep it in a cool place as you do any other chocolate, and just enjoy it whenever you want.

       5. Ashwagandha and Ghee Mixture

This wonderful mixture is great for any occasion or meal, just add 2 tbsp of Ashwagandha to half a cup of ghee and roast. Add in 1 tbsp of date sugar, and then store in the refrigerator, it's ready whenever you need it.

When you come to drink it, simply add 1 tsp of the mixture to a glass of milk or water, whichever you prefer. Delicious.
